Are the surgeons in Istanbul licensed and how do you verify it?

Yes. Every surgeon we refer to is a registered physician with specialist credentials in their field. Before starting a collaboration we request specialist certificates, the clinic's Ministry of Health permit and information on where procedures are performed. You can always ask us for the surgeon's name and credentials before booking.

Who is responsible for the medical outcome. Lumora or the clinic?

The clinic and the surgeon. Lumora is an independent consulting and referral agency: we coordinate contact, travel, accommodation, interpreting and follow-up. We do not provide healthcare, do not give medical advice and make no medical decisions.

Can I choose my own surgeon?

You are always told which surgeon is proposed and why. The match is based on your procedure, your wishes and the surgeon's specialty. If you would rather see another of our partner surgeons, just say so and we will see whether it can be arranged given scheduling and medical suitability.

Can the surgeon decline my treatment?

Yes, and it happens. If the examination, your test results or your medical history speak against the procedure, the surgeon will advise against it or suggest an alternative. That is a sign of good care, not of failure.

Does the surgeon speak Swedish or English?

The surgeons speak Turkish and English. An interpreter is present at consultation, admission and discharge, and Lumora's Swedish-speaking coordinator is available throughout the stay.

What does follow-up look like once I am back home?

You receive written aftercare instructions, the surgical report and a contact route to the clinic. Follow-up is digital with the clinic and Lumora assists with communication and translation. In case of acute problems you should always contact local healthcare first.

Can you guarantee the result?

No. No serious provider can guarantee a surgical result. Healing, scarring and the final outcome vary between individuals, and every procedure carries risk. What we can do is be clear about conditions, costs and what applies if a revision is needed.

What does a treatment cost and what is included?

All prices are shown in euro on our price page and normally include the procedure, anaesthesia, hospital stay, hotel and VIP transfer as stated per treatment. Flights are not included. The final price is confirmed after the surgeon's assessment.

Every surgeon we refer to holds specialist training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, maxillofacial surgery or hair transplantation, depending on the field. They work at hospitals and clinics approved by the Turkish Ministry of Health and experienced with international patients, with interpreters, VIP transfer and structured follow-up.

The medical assessment is always made by the surgeon and the clinic. We never give medical advice, never promise a specific result and can never guarantee that a treatment is suitable for you. That is determined at the on-site consultation, after examination and review of your medical history.

Dr. Rahimli received his medical degree from the Azerbaijan Medical University in Baku and then completed his specialist training in plastic surgery at Fırat University Hospital in Turkey.

Op. Dr. Zeki Yasar

Op. Dr. Zeki Yasar is an Istanbul-based specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, with over 20 years in medicine and specialist qualification since 2011.

He graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and completed his specialist training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine between 2006 and 2011.

His career includes public hospital service from 2011 to 2017 and specialist roles at Medical Park Hospital (2017) and Memorial Hospital (2017-2019). Since 2019 he has run his own private specialist practice in Istanbul.

He is an author and co-author of peer-reviewed international publications in plastic, reconstructive and craniofacial surgery, and takes part in national and international courses and congresses covering rhinoplasty, aesthetic plastic surgery, wound care and reconstructive surgery.

Op. Dr. Berkay Çaytemel

Op. Dr. Berkay Çaytemel is an Istanbul based specialist in otolaryngology (ENT) and head and neck surgery, with a particular focus on rhinoplasty and facial aesthetic surgery. He trained at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and completed rhinology training at Stanford University.

Born in Ankara in 1991, he earned his medical degree at Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Medicine, followed by compulsory service in the emergency department of Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital in 2015 and 2016.

Between 2016 and 2021 he completed his residency in ENT and head and neck surgery at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, one of Turkey's most established faculties, which he entered with a top national specialisation exam ranking. In 2019 he completed rhinology training at Stanford University in the USA.

From 2021 to 2023 he worked as a specialist surgeon at Osmaniye Kadirli State Hospital and then at Sultan Abdülhamid Han Training and Research Hospital, performing numerous nose and facial procedures as well as revision rhinoplasty. Today he runs his own practice in Kadıköy, Istanbul, for Turkish and international patients.

He has eight peer reviewed scientific publications and a book chapter, and regularly attends congresses and courses in nasal and facial aesthetics.

Turkish Ministry of Health approval

Every clinic we work with is registered and approved by the Republic of Turkey's Ministry of Health (T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı) for the procedures they perform. The approval covers facilities, equipment, hygiene routines and staff qualifications.

Hospital standard for surgery and anaesthesia

All procedures under general anaesthesia are performed at full-scale hospitals or surgical centres with a licensed anaesthesiologist, monitoring equipment and intensive care capability, never in a clinic without such readiness.

Traceable implants and materials

Breast implants, dental materials and other products are CE-marked and supplied with serial numbers and warranty documents that you take home with you.

Documented follow-up

You receive the surgical report, material passport and aftercare instructions. Follow-up is handled digitally with the clinic, with Lumora as your Swedish-speaking point of contact.
